Extension module for the Elausys Universal KNX Actuator System adding 8 switching channels at 10A each to the MSA-810 master actuator. Each channel supports independent switch or shutter/blind configuration through a single KNX interface, enabling scalable building automation up to 72 outputs.
The SAE-810 is an 8-channel switching extension module for the Elausys Universal KNX Actuator System. Designed to expand the MSA-810 master actuator, this extension adds 8 relay outputs rated at 10A/230VAC each, enabling integrators to scale switching and shutter control capacity without additional KNX addresses. Each channel pair can be independently configured as standard switching outputs or as shutter/blind controllers.
The SAE-810 provides 8 independent relay channels (A through H) for driving 230VAC electrical loads. Each channel delivers up to 10A for resistive loads, with relay contacts rated for 10 million mechanical operations ensuring long-term reliability in demanding commercial and residential applications.
Channel configuration is fully flexible through ETS: each output operates as an independent switching actuator, or consecutive channel pairs (A/B, C/D, etc.) can be combined for shutter or blind motor control with separate up/down phases. All channel functions inherit the advanced capabilities of the MSA-810 master, including time functions, staircase lighting, scene storage, blocking functions, and operation hour counters.
The extension draws power internally from the master actuator through the side connector, eliminating the need for separate power wiring. Communication with the KNX bus occurs through the master, meaning multiple extensions share a single KNX physical address while providing access to all channel communication objects.
The SAE-810 mounts directly on standard 35mm DIN rail, occupying 4 space units (72mm width). Installation involves sliding the extension onto the rail adjacent to the MSA-810 master (or another extension) and connecting via the provided side connector on the right side of the master module.
Wiring uses screw terminals accepting conductors up to 2.5mm cross-section with 0.5Nm tightening torque. Each relay provides a potential-free contact between two terminals: connect the phase from the circuit breaker to the first terminal and the load to the second terminal. For shutter operation, wire consecutive channels to the motor's up and down phases.
In ETS5 or ETS6, select the extension type "Switch Actuator 8-fold" in the MSA-810 application to enable the SAE-810 channels. The master automatically recognizes connected extensions during the addressing sequence. Refer to the MSA-810 User Manual for detailed configuration of switching and shutter functions.
Residential Lighting Control: Expand room-by-room switching capacity for lighting circuits in villas, apartments, and multi-story homes where the 8 master channels are insufficient.
Commercial Switching: Add capacity for office lighting zones, retail display circuits, or hospitality room control where numerous independent circuits require reliable relay switching.
Shutter and Blind Installations: Configure channel pairs for motorized blinds, roller shutters, awnings, or ventilation louvers with independent travel time settings and position feedback.
Mixed Installations: Combine switching and shutter functions on a single extension, for example using 4 channels for lighting and 2 channel pairs for window blinds in a conference room.
The SAE-810 requires the MSA-810 master actuator to operate and cannot function as a standalone device. Up to 8 extension modules of any type can connect to a single master, enabling systems with up to 72 total channels controlled through one KNX interface.
A combined limit of 40 channels at 10A applies across the MSA-810, SAE-810, and SAE-2410 products on any single master to respect total current capacity. For installations requiring additional 10A capacity beyond this limit, deploy a second MSA-810 master system or use other extension types (ex: SAE-816).
The extension integrates with the complete Elausys actuator ecosystem and is fully supported by the ElauPro cloud platform for automated ETS application generation.
