The SAE-816 is an eight-channel switching extension for the MSA-810 KNX master actuator, with potential-free contacts rated at 16 A / 230 VAC per channel for resistive loads. Switch compatible circuits individually or configure output pairs for up to 4 blinds or shutters. Every blind uses two channels, reducing the number available for independent switching.
Control functions and applications
Use delays, scenes, blocking, and hour counters to adapt switching to the installation. Blind mode provides travel-time settings, positioning, and alarm priorities. The 16 A rating applies to resistive loads; other load types must meet the manufacturer’s switching and inrush limits.

Integrate with the master actuator system
The SAE-816 is an extension of the Elausys Universal KNX Actuator System and cannot operate independently. Its channels appear in the MSA-810 application, using the master’s KNX address.
Plan the module combination in ElauPro. System capacity depends on the extension types and their channel requirements. The combined limit of 40 channels at 10 A applies to MSA-810, SAE-810, and SAE-2410.
Power, installation, and configuration
The master supplies the extension’s control electronics through the side connector. The switched circuits require their own load supply.
Mount the module on a 35 mm DIN rail in the same row as the master and connect it to the extension chain. Generate the system application in ElauPro and configure the channels in ETS5 or ETS6. Configured KNX operation does not require an internet connection.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can this extension operate on its own?
No. It requires an MSA-810 master and is configured within the master’s ETS application. It does not need a separate KNX address.
Can it control blinds or shutters?
Yes. Pair the outputs in blind mode for up to 4 motors. These paired channels are not simultaneously available as independent switching outputs.
Does the rated current apply to motors and LED drivers?
The 16 A value is the resistive rating. Check the documented limits for the actual load type, including starting or inrush current, and respect the 32 A total-current limit.
Does it count towards the 40-channel limit?
Its 16 A channels are excluded from the 40-channel limit for 10 A outputs. The overall extension capacity and all electrical limits still apply.
What power supply is required?
From MSA-810 through the side connector. External supply for the switched circuits.
How is it configured?
Generate the actuator-system application in ElauPro, then configure the channels and group addresses in ETS5 or ETS6. The master and extensions share one KNX address and application.
