Unidirectional KNX gateway for AnB Rimex TRICOM alarm systems providing 96-zone status monitoring on the KNX bus. Enables motion-triggered lighting and automation responses to security events. Note: This gateway transmits alarm-to-KNX only; no arming or disarming control from KNX is supported.
The ANB-KNX is a unidirectional KNX gateway designed for monitoring AnB Rimex TRICOM alarm systems from KNX building automation installations. This interface transmits real-time zone status from the alarm system to the KNX bus, enabling integrators to trigger automated building responses based on security events. Important: This gateway is monitoring-only and does not support arming, disarming, or any control commands from KNX to the alarm system.
The gateway provides alarm system monitoring through RS485 communication with the TRICOM alarm panel. Key capabilities include real-time monitoring of up to 96 program steps (zones) with individual KNX group objects for status feedback. Each zone corresponds to a configurable program step in the TRICOM system, allowing flexible mapping of detectors, area states, or custom alarm outputs to KNX.
This is a unidirectional gateway: data flows exclusively from the alarm system to KNX. The device does not support area control commands (arm, partial arm, disarm), programmable output (PG) control, virtual inputs, or scene recall functionality. These communication objects exist in the ETS application for compatibility with the unified Elausys alarm gateway architecture but are marked as NOT USED for this product.
Zone offset configuration supports multi-gateway installations covering up to 192 program steps across two ANB-KNX devices, with steps 1-96 on the first gateway and steps 97-192 on the second. Communication fault monitoring alerts the KNX system if the RS485 connection to the alarm panel is interrupted.
The compact module (89 x 29 x 20mm) can be mounted directly inside the TRICOM control panel using the integrated screw hole, or installed on a standard DIN-rail using the optional DIN-2TE enclosure. The device requires an external 12VDC power supply, which can be sourced from the alarm panel auxiliary output or a separate supply.
Connection to the KNX bus uses a pluggable micro terminal. The RS485 connection to the TRICOM uses screw terminals (A/B), with the built-in termination resistor eliminating the need for additional components. Galvanic isolation protects the KNX bus from the alarm system circuitry.
Configuration is performed entirely within ETS using the standard Elausys alarm gateway application. Parameters include zone status enable/disable and zone offset selection. Program steps must be configured on the TRICOM panel to output the desired detector or area status information. Note that program step 0 should not be used as it will not be transferred to KNX. The free ETS Demo version is fully supported.
Residential installations benefit from motion-triggered lighting using existing alarm system detectors. When a PIR detector triggers, the corresponding zone status activates KNX lighting in corridors, stairwells, or entry points without requiring separate presence sensors.
Commercial buildings can use zone status monitoring for building management dashboards, displaying real-time security zone activity. Fire detector zones can trigger emergency lighting sequences or HVAC responses through KNX logic.
For installations requiring bidirectional control (arming/disarming from KNX), consider alternative Elausys alarm gateways such as the JA-KNX for Jablotron, EVO-KNX for Paradox, or NXG-KNX for Interlogix systems which offer full bidirectional communication.
The ANB-KNX is compatible with AnB Rimex TRICOM series alarm systems using the onboard RS485 communication port. The gateway integrates with any KNX TP installation and is fully configurable using ETS5 or ETS6, including the free ETS Demo version.
Related Elausys products include the DIN-2TE enclosure for rail mounting. The gateway follows the unified Elausys alarm gateway architecture with a consistent ETS application structure, enabling integrators familiar with other Elausys alarm gateways to work efficiently with this product.
