Connect your SolarEdge inverter to KNX
The Elausys INV-KNX-SE makes inverter measurements available as KNX group objects. View solar production alongside other building information in HyperVisu or another KNX visualisation, and use the data in your energy-management logic.
The gateway communicates over the local network using its Ethernet connection. An internet connection or cloud service is not required for this communication.
Monitor production, battery storage, and grid exchange
Access solar power output, energy yield, and electrical measurements reported by your inverter.
On supported battery installations, monitor battery state of charge and charging or discharging power.
Grid import/export power is available from a compatible SolarEdge meter connected to and configured with the inverter.
The available data depends on the inverter model, firmware, selected communication profile, and installation.
Use energy data in KNX automation
The gateway includes 64 configurable logic functions, including logic gates, sequences, calendar triggers, and mathematical operations.
For example, use measured grid export to enable water heating through a suitable KNX actuator, or display battery charge level on a KNX visualisation. The connected equipment and configured logic determine how the installation responds.
Measurements update at a configurable interval of 1–255 minutes.
Compatibility and installation
Supported ranges include SolarEdge SetApp inverters and LCD models with firmware 3.xxxx or later, with a compatible SunSpec Modbus interface. Compatibility must be checked for the exact model and firmware.
Enable Modbus TCP using the inverter’s supported configuration interface.
Installation requires a KNX bus connection, network access to the supported Modbus TCP interface, and an external 12–30 VDC power supply. KNX parameters are configured in ETS5 or ETS6; network settings are configured through the gateway’s web interface.
Check the documentation for the communication profile and firmware required by your installation.

Can I monitor a battery?
On supported battery installations, monitor battery state of charge and charging or discharging power. Availability depends on the inverter, firmware, and installation. These measurements can be used in KNX visualisation and logic.
Can I measure electricity imported from or exported to the grid?
Grid import/export power is available from a compatible SolarEdge meter connected to and configured with the inverter.
Can it switch appliances when surplus solar energy is available?
The gateway can provide measurements and KNX logic for energy-based automation. Switching or enabling an appliance requires a suitable KNX actuator or compatible control interface. Surplus-based operation also requires grid-exchange measurements and correctly configured logic.
Does it need an internet connection?
An internet connection or cloud service is not required for local communication with the supported Modbus TCP interface. The gateway and inverter system must remain reachable on the local network.
What do I need to install it?
A KNX installation, network connectivity to the supported SolarEdge Modbus TCP interface, an external 12–30 VDC power supply, and ETS5 or ETS6 for configuration. Enable Modbus TCP using the inverter’s supported configuration interface.
Does it work with a SolarEdge Home Battery?
Battery power and state of charge are available where the connected inverter exposes the supported battery measurements. Check compatibility for the inverter, battery, and firmware combination.
