ELAUSYS / INV-KNX-SU
Sungrow KNX Gateway for SG Inverters
The INV-KNX-SU connects compatible Sungrow SG string inverters to your KNX installation via Modbus TCP. Bring solar production and electrical measurements into your KNX visualisation and automation, using a local network connection without a cloud service.
The product
Designed for your installation.
Connect your Sungrow SG string inverter to KNX
The Elausys INV-KNX-SU makes inverter measurements available as KNX group objects. View solar production alongside other building information in HyperVisu or another KNX visualisation, and use the data in your energy-management logic.
The gateway communicates over the local network using its Ethernet connection. An internet connection or cloud service is not required for this communication.
Monitor solar production and electrical measurements
Access solar power output, energy yield, and electrical measurements reported by your inverter.
This gateway application provides production monitoring for SG string inverters. Battery measurements are not available.
Grid import/export measurements are not available from the supported SG string inverters. Add a separate KNX energy meter if your automation needs to distinguish solar production from surplus exported to the grid.
The available data depends on the inverter model, firmware, selected communication profile, and installation.
Use energy data in KNX automation
The gateway includes 64 configurable logic functions, including logic gates, sequences, calendar triggers, and mathematical operations.
For example, display solar production on a KNX visualisation or trigger a KNX indication when production exceeds a configured threshold. Surplus-based load control also requires a separate measurement of grid exchange, such as a KNX energy meter. The connected equipment and configured logic determine how the installation responds.
Measurements update at a configurable interval of 1–255 minutes.
Compatibility and installation
Supported ranges include Sungrow SG string inverters in the SG…RT and SG…KTL series. Compatibility must be checked for the exact model and firmware.
Connect through the inverter’s supported LAN interface or a compatible WiNet-S dongle, with Modbus TCP enabled.
Installation requires a KNX bus connection, network access to the supported Modbus TCP interface, and an external 12–30 VDC power supply. KNX parameters are configured in ETS5 or ETS6; network settings are configured through the gateway’s web interface.
Check the documentation for the communication profile and firmware required by your installation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which Sungrow inverters are compatible?
Sungrow SG string inverters in the SG…RT and SG…KTL series. Check the documentation for your exact model, firmware, and communication interface before ordering.
Can I monitor a battery?
No. This application is intended for production monitoring on supported SG string inverters. For supported Sungrow SH hybrid inverters with battery monitoring, use INV-KNX-SUH.
Can I measure electricity imported from or exported to the grid?
Grid import/export measurements are not available from the supported SG string inverters. Add a separate KNX energy meter if your automation needs to distinguish solar production from surplus exported to the grid.
Can it switch appliances when surplus solar energy is available?
The gateway can provide production measurements and KNX logic for energy-based automation. Switching or enabling an appliance requires a suitable KNX actuator or compatible control interface. Surplus-based operation also requires a separate KNX energy meter to measure grid exchange and correctly configured logic.
Does it need an internet connection?
An internet connection or cloud service is not required for local communication with the supported Modbus TCP interface. The gateway and inverter system must remain reachable on the local network.
What do I need to install it?
A KNX installation, network connectivity to the supported Sungrow Modbus TCP interface, an external 12–30 VDC power supply, and ETS5 or ETS6 for configuration. Connect through the inverter’s supported LAN interface or a compatible WiNet-S dongle, with Modbus TCP enabled.
Should I choose INV-KNX-SU or INV-KNX-SUH?
Choose INV-KNX-SU for supported SG string inverters. Choose INV-KNX-SUH for supported SH hybrid inverters when battery and grid-meter measurements are required.
