Overview

The AAE-410 is a 4-channel analog output extension module for the Elausys Universal KNX Actuator System. Delivering precise 0-10V control signals, this ultra-compact extension enables integration of variable-speed drives, HVAC control valves, analog LED dimmers, and proportional controllers into KNX building automation systems. Each channel operates independently with flexible configuration options including direct analog output, PI temperature control, single-channel dimming, or combined RGB/RGBW color control.

Technical Capabilities

The AAE-410 provides 4 independent analog output channels (A through D), each delivering 0-10VDC control signals with a maximum load of 2mA per channel. This output specification is compatible with industry-standard 0-10V control inputs found on ventilation fan controllers, HVAC damper actuators, control valves, and analog dimming interfaces.

Each channel can be independently configured through ETS for different operating modes. In standard analog output mode, channels respond to percentage values (0-100%). Temperature control mode activates the integrated PI controller with configurable proportional band and reset time, outputting control values directly to heating or cooling valves. Single-channel dimmer mode provides smooth dimming curves with day/night switching capability.

For advanced lighting applications, channels can be grouped for RGB (3-channel) or RGBW (4-channel) color control with unified brightness management. Tunable White configuration enables independent control of brightness and color temperature using two channels.

Maximum cable length to controlled devices is 30 meters, ensuring reliable signal transmission in typical building installations. The extension draws power internally from the MSA-810 master actuator through the side connector, requiring no separate power supply wiring.

Installation & Configuration

The AAE-410 mounts on the right side of the MSA-810 master actuator using the provided side connector, occupying only 2 space units (2SU) on standard 35mm DIN rail. This ultra-compact footprint makes the AAE-410 the smallest extension in the Universal Actuator System, ideal for space-constrained cabinet installations.

Load connections use screw terminals accepting conductors up to 2.5mm2 with 0.5Nm tightening torque. Connect each controlled device between the corresponding output terminal (A, B, C, or D) and one of the common ground terminals (GND). The 0-10V output is referenced to the GND terminals.

Configuration is performed through ETS5 or ETS6 using the MSA-810 application. In ETS, select the extension type as "Analog Actuator 4-fold" to enable the AAE-410 channels. Refer to the MSA-810 User Manual for detailed configuration of each channel operating mode.

The master actuator automatically detects connected extensions during the one-button addressing sequence, simplifying commissioning of multi-extension systems.

Applications

HVAC Control: Drive proportional control valves for heating and cooling systems, modulating damper actuators for ventilation control, and variable frequency drives for fan speed regulation. The PI temperature control mode enables direct valve control without external controllers.

Analog LED Dimming: Control 0-10V compatible LED drivers and ballasts for commercial and architectural lighting. The smooth dimming response and configurable curves ensure flicker-free operation across the full dimming range.

RGB/RGBW Color Lighting: Create dynamic color-changing installations using RGB or RGBW LED drivers with 0-10V inputs. Unified brightness control and scene integration enable sophisticated lighting effects through KNX.

Tunable White Lighting: Implement human-centric lighting with independent color temperature and brightness control, supporting circadian rhythm schedules for offices, healthcare facilities, and educational buildings.

Industrial Control: Interface with proportional controllers, positioning systems, and process control equipment requiring analog setpoint signals from the building automation system.

Compatibility & Integration

The AAE-410 requires the MSA-810 master actuator to operate and cannot function as a standalone device. Up to 8 extension modules of any type can connect to a single master, enabling systems with up to 72 total channels controlled through one KNX interface.

The extension integrates with the complete Elausys Universal Actuator System ecosystem including switching extensions (SAE-810, SAE-816, SAE-2410), heating modules (HAE-805), phase dimmers (DAE-225), DALI interface (DBE-64), and LED drivers (LAE-802). This enables comprehensive building automation combining switching, shutter control, HVAC, and analog/LED dimming through a single KNX device.
