Digital Outputs Extension

Overview

The DOE-825 is an 8-channel digital output extension module for the Elausys Universal KNX Actuator System. Designed for professional low-voltage DC control applications, this extension provides 8 transistor outputs rated at 0.25A each for driving 12-30VDC loads including electrothermic valves, indicator LEDs, external relays, contactors, and status indicators. Each channel can be independently configured as a switching actuator, temperature controller, or shutter actuator through ETS.

Technical Capabilities

The DOE-825 provides 8 independent digital output channels (A through H) for controlling low-voltage DC electrical loads. Each channel delivers up to 0.25A at 12-30VDC input voltage, suitable for driving electrothermic heating valves, external relay coils, contactors, status LEDs, and other low-current DC devices commonly used in building automation installations.

Channel Configuration Options:

• Switch Actuator: Each output operates as an independent switching channel with ON/OFF control, time functions, staircase lighting, scene storage, and blocking capabilities
• Shutter Control: Consecutive channel pairs (A/B, C/D, etc.) can be combined for motorized shutter or blind control with positioning and slat adjustment
• Temperature Control: Outputs can drive electrothermic valves with ON/OFF, PWM, or PI control modes for heating and cooling applications

The external DC power supply connects to the DC IN terminals. Each load wires between the positive voltage rail and the corresponding channel output terminal. This configuration enables efficient control of valve banks, relay arrays, and indicator systems from a single extension module.

All switching functions inherit advanced capabilities from the MSA-810 master, including adjustable switch-on/off delays, minimum ON/OFF duration, staircase lighting with configurable duration and pre-warning, independent scene storage per output, blocking functions, and operation hour counters with maintenance warnings.

Installation & Configuration

The DOE-825 mounts on the right side of the MSA-810 master actuator using the provided side connector, occupying only 2 space units (2SU) on standard 35mm DIN rail. This ultra-compact footprint makes the DOE-825 ideal for space-constrained cabinet installations where digital output control must be integrated alongside switching, HVAC, and lighting channels.

External DC power supply (12-30VDC) connects to the DC IN terminals (+/-). Load devices wire between the positive supply rail and channel outputs. Screw terminals accept conductors up to 2.5mm2 with 0.5Nm tightening torque. The extension draws control power internally from the MSA-810 master through the side connector.

Configuration is performed through ETS5 or ETS6 using the MSA-810 application. Select the extension type as Switch Actuator 8-fold in ETS to enable the DOE-825 channels. Full functionality requires ETS5 or higher; ETS4 provides limited parameter access. The master actuator automatically detects connected extensions during the one-button addressing sequence.

Applications

Heating Valve Control: Drive banks of electrothermic heating valves for underfloor heating manifolds, radiator valves, and fan coil units. PWM and PI control modes enable precise temperature regulation.

External Relay Control: Trigger external power relays and contactors for loads exceeding the main actuator ratings, enabling control of high-power equipment through the KNX system.

Status Indication: Drive LED indicator panels, status lights, and visual signaling systems for building management and operator feedback applications.

Industrial Control: Interface with industrial equipment, PLCs, and process control systems requiring low-voltage DC switching signals from the KNX bus.

Compatibility & Integration

The DOE-825 requires the MSA-810 master actuator to operate and cannot function as a standalone device. Up to 8 extension modules of any type can connect to a single master, enabling systems with up to 72 total channels controlled through one KNX interface.

The extension integrates with the complete Elausys Universal Actuator System ecosystem including switching extensions (SAE-810, SAE-816, SAE-2410), heating modules (HAE-805), phase dimmers (DAE-225), DALI interface (DBE-64), LED controllers (LAE-802), and analog outputs (AAE-410). This enables comprehensive building automation combining switching, shutter control, HVAC, and specialized DC outputs through a single KNX device.
