Not understanding zone reporting behaviour

AJAX sensors only report zone status to KNX when the system is armed or in night mode. Setting devices to Always Active enables daytime reporting, but also means those zones will trigger the alarm when the system is disarmed. Plan which zones genuinely need 24/7 KNX reporting.

Not inviting Elausys as Security Company

Area control (arm/disarm from KNX) will not work without inviting Elausys as a Security Company in the AJAX app. Internet access is also required for arming/disarming commands.

Skipping the scene assignment

The gateway supports automatic scene recall, but scenes default to 0 (disabled). You must configure them manually in ETS for every area status you want to automate.

Incorrect area count with AJAX groups

When groups are enabled in AJAX, at least two areas must be configured in ETS to switch from global to individual group commands. Configuring only one area when groups are active will result in incorrect behaviour.

Expecting disarm to exit Night Mode

Disarming a group does not disable Night Mode when groups are enabled. You must explicitly send a Partial Arm (OFF) command to disable Night Mode. Design your KNX logic to handle this independently.

Ethernet connection loss

If the Ethernet connection between the gateway and the AJAX Hub drops, the Connected LED will turn off. The Module Status group object (GO 1) will send an error code to KNX, allowing your visualisation to display a connectivity fault. Zone statuses will hold their last known state until communication is restored.

Factory Default Reset

To restore the factory defaults, toggle KNX programming mode four times in succession within 30 seconds using the KNX programming button on the front of the gateway. On the fourth toggle, the Network status LED flashes three times before the module resets. All parameters, including network settings, return to their default configuration. The gateway is then accessible at its fixed IP address, 192.168.1.51. The ETS application remains loaded and does not need to be downloaded again.

KNX status and programming mode

The gateway administration page also displays the KNX bus status and allows you to switch KNX programming mode on or off.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does a displayed detector status prove that communication is working?

No. Detector statuses retain their last known state after communication loss. Check the Connected LED and the communication path before relying on a displayed value.

Does Always Active only change status reporting?

No. It also allows the detector to trigger an alarm while the system is disarmed. Use this option only where that behaviour is intended.

How do I perform a Factory Default Reset?

Toggle KNX programming mode four times within 30 seconds using the front-panel KNX programming button. On the fourth toggle, the Network status LED flashes three times before the gateway resets.

What happens to the settings and ETS application after a reset?

All parameters, including network settings, return to their defaults. The gateway is accessible at 192.168.1.51. The ETS application remains loaded and does not need to be downloaded again.

Can I check KNX bus status and change programming mode from the administration page?

Yes. The gateway administration page displays the KNX bus status and lets you switch KNX programming mode on or off.
