The gateway connects the SMA inverter over Ethernet and publishes its measurements on KNX. It provides galvanic isolation from the KNX bus and mounts on a DIN rail in a 2-module space.

Connection arrangement: KNX at the top; 12-30 VDC auxiliary supply and RJ45 Ethernet at the bottom.
| Front panel element | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Network green LED | Physical Ethernet connection established. |
| Connected green LED | Communication with the inverter established. |
| P button | KNX programming mode button. |
| Red LED | KNX programming status. |
Choose the SMA profile
| ETS inverter model | Gateway Unit Id | Use |
|---|---|---|
| 23 SMA native profile | 3 | Default for new installations. Required for Sunny Tripower Smart Energy hybrid models STP5.0 / 6.0 / 8.0 / 10.0-3SE-40 and full battery or grid-meter data. |
| 1 SunSpec profile | 126 | Legacy inverters without the SMA native profile, or installations without battery and without power meter. |
The model and Unit Id must match. For model 1, set the inverter Unit ID to 3; the gateway uses 126 because the SunSpec address has an offset of +123.
SMA application limits: only PV circuits 1 and 2 apply. Battery 2 is not used. Model 23 provides reactive power, daily yield, battery power, battery lifetime energy counters and grid power. See the object tables for the complete availability list.
